TakeO help

Answers to common questions. TakeO keeps everything on your device, so we can't see your routines: the answers below explain what you can check yourself.

About TakeO

Is TakeO a medical app?

No. TakeO is a reminder tool for personal routines. It isn’t a medical device and doesn’t give medical advice: it shows the text you type at the times you choose, and doesn’t check names, amounts or timing. Reminders can sometimes be late or not arrive, so if missing something could harm you or someone in your care, don’t rely on TakeO alone. Please read our Disclaimer.

Is TakeO free?

Yes. TakeO is free, with no account, no subscription and no in-app purchases.

Reminders

My reminders don’t arrive. What can I check?

  1. Notifications: allow notifications for TakeO in your device’s settings.
  2. On-time reminders: in TakeO’s Settings, turn on On-time reminders (Android calls it “Alarms & reminders”).
  3. Battery: keep TakeO’s battery use on Optimized or Unrestricted, not Restricted. Some brands add their own battery savers: on Samsung, make sure TakeO isn’t in “Sleeping apps” or “Deep sleeping apps”; on Xiaomi, OPPO, vivo and similar devices, look for “Autostart” or “Battery saver” and allow TakeO.
  4. Do Not Disturb and silent mode: TakeO respects them, so while they are on, reminders stay silent and may not pop up.
  5. Open TakeO every few days: TakeO plans your reminders up to a week ahead, less if you have many reminders a day. If you don’t open it for that long, it sends one reminder to open it; after that, reminders stop until you open TakeO again.

TakeO’s Settings has a “Reminders not arriving?” section with links to these pages.

My reminders arrive a few minutes late.

Turn on On-time reminders in TakeO’s Settings. Without it, Android may group reminders and deliver them a little later to save battery.

Why do I get the same reminder again?

These are repeat reminders. If a routine isn’t marked, TakeO reminds you again (every 10 minutes by default) until you mark it or it counts as missed. If items are never marked as missed, repeats stop after 1 hour, at the time of the next reminder, or at 5:00, whichever comes first. You can change or turn off repeat reminders in Settings.

I changed time zone or the clock. What happens to my reminders?

Reminders keep the times you chose on your device’s clock. Open TakeO once after the change, so it can plan your reminders again for the new time.

Can I hide routine names in reminders?

Yes: Settings, Notifications, “Hide routine names”. Reminders never show the names of the items in a routine.

Your day

What do Done, Not done and Missed mean?

  • Not done: every item starts like this.
  • Done: you checked the item and tapped Save.
  • Missed: the item still wasn’t done a while after its reminder. By default that’s 30 minutes; you can change it in Settings, or choose never to mark items as missed.

“Done” only records what you tapped. If you’re not sure whether you already did something, don’t rely on TakeO alone.

Why does my day start at 5:00 and not at midnight?

So late evenings belong to the same day. Anything between midnight and 4:59, for example a routine at 00:30, counts as part of the day before. The new day starts at 5:00.

Can I see earlier days?

Yes, the last 3 days, in the week strip at the top of Today. TakeO keeps 90 days of history on your device, then deletes it automatically.

Routines

What are the example routines?

Ready-made routines (skincare, fitness, hydration, wellness, sleep and one to fill in yourself). Open Examples in the menu, pick one, adjust it and save it. You can remove it again at any time.

How do I change or delete a routine?

Open My Routines and tap the routine. Change what you need and tap Save, or tap Delete at the bottom of the form. From Today, you can also open a card and tap the pencil next to a routine’s name. Deleting a routine keeps the days you already checked off in your history.

How many routines can I have?

Up to 30 routines, each with up to 15 items and 8 times a day.

Your data

Where are my routines stored?

Only on your device. TakeO has no account and no cloud, doesn’t connect to the internet, and we never see your data.

What happens if I change or lose my device?

TakeO has no export yet. If Android backup to your Google account is on, Android may restore TakeO’s data when you set up a new device with the same account. This is Android’s own backup, handled by Google, not by us.

How do I delete everything?

Settings, Data, “Clear all data”. Uninstalling TakeO also deletes its data from the device.

Languages

Which languages does TakeO speak?

English, Italian, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese. TakeO follows your device’s language.
